Meet Breanne: Homestead’s new Managing Partner

Back in July, we made a huuuge change—we added three new owners to our team! You’ll get to read about (or meet!) all of them eventually, but today we’re focusing on Breanne, one of the new creative minds behind everything marketing & communications related here at Homestead.

About Breanne:

As the CEO and Co-Founder of Knorth Creative (a super amazing marketing, communications and branding agency), you’ll find Breanne crushing a diet coke between client meetings and busy typing away on her phone or laptop. Even though she’s a very busy bee, you’ll also always find her smiling and full of energy!

With a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and Finance from the University of Alberta, Breanne has worked in many different industries. From publishing, to fashion, to banking—and most recently as the Manager of Marketing for the Alberta Cancer Foundation, a place and cause that will forever hold a special place in her heart.

So what sparked Breanne’s love for coworking? It was her beloved days at local ECommerce giant, Poppy Barley, where she was hired as the company's first full-time employee. Back in the day, the company worked out of Startup Edmonton, one of Edmonton’s first coworking spaces. Even after leaving Poppy Barley, Breanne still missed the coworking model—so it’s no shock that she fell in love with Homestead as soon as she walked in. Here she is only a few months later as our Managing Partner! *Mic drop*

When Breanne isn’t busy running her own businesses, you’ll find her supporting local causes, at an XTherapy HIIT class, or hanging out with her precious 2-year-old son, Ellis.

And now for a rapid fire interview with Breanne:

Q: Coffee or tea?

A: Can I pick “none of the above” and instead say Diet Coke? The best caffeine around! :)

Q: What’s your favourite all time pick-me-up song? 

A: Anything I can dance to (especially a classic from the 90s) ... guilty!

Q: Would you prefer to curl up with a blanket and a good book OR tour the River Valley trails on a long bike ride?

A: I’ll never ever turn down the chance for a great workout and, to do it in our beautiful river valley? I’m there!

Q: Favourite ice cream flavour?

A: Cookies and cream 

Q: What was your very first job? Was it part-time or full-time and what did you love most about it? 

A: My first job was working part-time at the Bearyland Store at the Stollery Children’s Hospital. My favourite part about this job was seeing the joy on the sick children’s faces as they picked their favourite item in the store. Little did I know my son would be one of those sick little children one day so it means even more to me now to have helped! 

Q: What’s your favourite part of marketing, design, content or strategy?

A: That’s a tough one. I can’t choose one because one cannot (and should not!) exist without the other. 

Q: If you could go back in time and start University over again, anywhere in the world... where would you go and what would you take?

A: I would go right back to the University of Alberta’s School of Business! The people, the staff, the facility, everything was incredible and I wouldn’t have changed a thing! I take great pride in being a U of A alumni and am so happy to have completed my BComm!

Q: Salty or sweet? 

A: Allllll the salt. And then some more.
