If you’ve been in the space lately, you may have noticed a new friendly face at our front desk. Olesia [Oh-lee-see-uh] joined us mid-June along with our new Community Manager, Alli. We think they’re both pretty cool and we’re so, so excited to have them on our team to help strengthen the already-amazing community we have here at Homestead!
We know you’re dying to learn more about our newest addition, so keep on reading to get the inside scoop on this firecracker.
Born in Uzbekistan and fluent in Russian, Olesia is the first face you’ll see when the elevator door opens. This jack-of-all-trades is currently finishing her Bachelor of Commerce and is taking her LSAT this Fall. We know what you’re thinking: yep, Olesia has beauty AND brains.
As Member Concierge, Olesia is much more than a greeter. At any given time, you’ll find her nose-deep in invoices and financials, setting up new memberships, and making sure Homestead is spick and span. In addition, she works closely with Alli on social media initiatives, blogging, event planning… you name it.
In her spare time, you’ll find her at the volleyball court or ball diamond, hanging out at her *new* downtown apartment, or downing her sixth coffee of the day.
And now for a rapid-fire interview with Olesia:
Q: What is your biggest fear?
A: I would say that my biggest fear is failure. I have high ambitions and aspirations for the future, but the idea of failing in front of those close to me has always held me back on more than one occasion.
However, on a less heartbreaking note, I am not the biggest fan of wasps and hornets—I squeal and run away as soon as I see one.
Q: What is your favourite place you’ve ever travelled to?
A: I actually lived in Tuscany, Italy for three months this year during a study abroad semester. It was incredible! I also travelled around Europe during my time there, and would say Amsterdam and was probably my favourite place.
Q: If your house was on fire, what two things would you run back in to get?
A: Hopefully my adrenaline would kick in and I would be able to pick up my 70 pound black lab, Nikko. Another thing I would grab is probably my phone/laptop since it has so many memories that I wouldn’t want to lose.
Q: You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What colour would you be and why?
A: Some sort of cute pastel colour. Preferably like a soft baby pink—pretty much everything I own is that colour anyway.
Q: Best thing you’ve ever binged on Netflix?
A: I’ve binged quite a few shows over the years. I was addicted to Grey's Anatomy for a while (just like every single other girl), but SUITS is definitely my favourite. I aspire to be as badass as some of the characters on there one day.
Q: And most importantly… Orange juice: with or without the pulp?
A: NO PULP! Pulp takes away all the pleasure from drinking juice. Juice is meant for DRINKING, not eating!
